Scope and content
Started the day by reading the newspaper cutting which he encloses. Went to Rudi's dressing room to see how he was. Describes Rudi's angry reaction to the newspaper. Describes Rudi's performance in the ballet rehearsal. Writes that Rudi 'gave such an exhibition of bad manners that we quailed and sank from sight with terror'. The photographers were 'struck dumb'. Describes the reactions of those around him. Ninette told Rudi that the opera house did not give the story to the press and Rudi calmed down. In the second run through, 'he suddenly danced like a dream'. Hopes to send Beaton pictures on Monday. Wishes the '"Daily Express" in hell'.
