Scope and content

Sympathises with Beaton and comments on how relationships can work if you can keep your temper. His mother has been very ill and he has looked after her. After the danger passed, he enjoyed living on his own and became very active. Had the most fortunte love affair of his life. His mother has now come out of the home and has moved in with him again. He has broken the car's windscreen. Has written a 'wildly flippant and gay' play, as films have bored him. Has begun another play. Discusses his preference for writing plays over books. Is going to see a play with Eddie Marsh and is going to the Soviet Embassy for a party the following night. Mentions a series of films and gives his opinions on them. Is trying to raise funds by gambling.
