Scope and content
Asks Beaton to come and see the new house as soon as he is within 50 miles of Tewkesbury. Is unable to invite him to stay the night as they would be unable to entertain him properly. Also the spare bathroom is very small and looks dangerous. The cook is not very good as she had never cooked before she came to them. They 'daily hope she never will again'. Thought that his book was out of print, but discovered that the publishers had hidden 40 or 50 copies in 'some woods near Surrey and hadn't let on'. Fears that Beaton will find the book boring. Requests a copy of Beaton's book. Loved Beaton's pictures at the N.P.G. (National Portrait Gallery) but there were too many people there.
