Got Beaton's card yesterday and rushed to finish the design. Had not sent it before as he did not feel it was a sensible design. It would last them both to the end of the war if it was ever undertaken. Would love to come to Ashcombe next weekend. Is writing in "haste and discomfort" as he has not finished moving in. Feels miserable that he never phoned to thank them for all his kindness.
