Scope and content
Thanks Beaton for his letter. Regrets that Beaton did not stay a few more days in London to see the transformation of Pavillon. Watched the ball last night. Karinska did what Beaton asked. They dance better and better and have had great success. The theatres at Covent Garden are half empty but the applause is louder than ever. Hopes that Beaton will have a rest. Unfortunately the sequins on the sky fall down all the time. Basil is in good humour and is having the Pavillon copied for Australia. Is very alone and tired. Bebe and Tony have gone to Paris. Is counting the days until he leaves on 30 August. Asks Beaton to write. Beaton's sketches of Pavillon belong to Basil, as do those of Bebe and other painters who have worked for his ballets.
