Scope and content

A list of supplies required (not present) for the Grange and Vere estates and those of Blue Mountain is enclosed, noting that it is of great benefit if supplies can arrive before crop time, especially for the Blue Mountain estate. Changes to arrangements for shipping and insurance of sugar are detailed, giving the names of the ships and the quantities involved. Changes have been necessitated due to the imposition of martial law, upon which one ship previously engaged has been requistioned for public service. Changes will increase the cost of insurance. A postscript corrects an error in a previous letter: salary changes mentioned apply only to the Vere estate, not the Grange.
