Gives thanks for the attention paid by AJC to Brand's 'dear Boy' whilst a student at St John's. Is thankful that the boy went to St John's rather than Jesus which is 'an hotbed made not of the purest manure'. Gives an account of his summer residence including a description of the library of the 'late Mr Pitt' and the Mausoleum of the Pelhams, 'one of the finest things I ever saw'. Gives news of acquaintances and discusses an enquiry itno the conduct of the gaoler and magistrates which was provoked by an ill judged petition to the House of Commons.
