Scope and content

Thanks Barbara for her letter, which was full of 'warmth and thoughtfulness' and brought comfort. Is dealing with her grief by burying herself in work for a few hours each day, and then sharing 'some good times' with Willie and Ardie. Hass been 'quietly thanksful' for having Margaret Ann and Bill with them for the last four years; it will be difficult, especially for Sigrid, when they move to Princeton during the summer. Margaret Ann successfully passed her 'orals' under the emotional strain, and now has two weeks of her own to pursue her studies on Indians for her thesis. Has heard 'marvellous things' about their country house from Willie. Barbara should come to California with FH on his next trip.
