Scope and content
Thanks Beaton for his letter. Writes that she has been 'out of order' since he left. Informs him that she will not be travelling. Regrets not being able to see England in the summer. Refers to possibility that Beaton will be in America in August. Plans to remain in America until mid-July, when she may go to the South of France with [George] Schlee. Suggests that she might be in Paris in October where they could meet. Imagines Beaton and Cecile in their gardens. Contrast that vision to the 'hard asphalt in filthy air' where she is. Worries that she has 'messed up ones life'.
