Scope and content
In Latin. Explains why he has not written for seven years. Is writing in Latin out of nostalgia. Sailed for India as an officer a few months ago and was assigned to a new regiment. His enthusiasm for things military lasted a few days and was then replaced by disgust. Has found solace in books, particularly Housman's poems. Sends Glover a Latin rendering of a Housman poem. Is learning an Indian language with great difficulty. Complains about dust getting everywhere. His brother is also in India. Played golf with him in Delhi and saw Sir Stafford Cripps. Asks Glover to write.
