Thanks Glover for the dedication in his book on Virgil. Suggests that Glover work on Tertullian. Promises to write to Mr Jones with recommended reading on the recent history of Philosophy. Sends news from Queen's University, Kingston, including Principal Gordon's ill health and his lack of progress in fundraising, Cappon's article in the Quarterly 'arraigning the Ross government for electoral corruption', and Macnaughton's success. Also mentions Dr Jordon's ill health, and that of Dupuis and his wife. Reports that there is support for appointing William Grant as Ferguson's assistant, against Ferguson's will. Announces that he has given up smoking on Dr Birkett's orders. Details his plans for academic publication. Informs Glover that Cappon did not print his lecture in the 'Quarterly'.
