Explains that she was not going to forward Lyn's letter to Miriam Dent because the letters that Lyn wanted were in her own possession. Tells the story of how she acquired the letters from Mr James Dent and Mrs Joseph Wilder, who visited Mrs Leigh in England and met her mother, Fanny Kemble. Refers to Mrs Stowe. Relates her Uncle, Major James M. Cowper's explanation for Fanny Kemble's change in opinion about slavery and the South.
