Thanks him for the copy of his book 'The First Christian Century'. Crook goes on to refer to a book by K.Hopkins Despite the 'tiresome mode of presentation' there is a lot of interesting stuff. He agrees with the quoted idea that 'those with no religious belief have no inkling what religious belief is'. He discusses elements of McKechnie's book, including the basis of persecution.
