Contents of folder so inscribed by Jeffreys divided into eight for ease of reference: correspondence, drafts, background material re paper for Notes and Records of the Royal Society. Jeffreys's paper was a response to a paper by S.R.C. Malin and Sir Edward Bullard 'The direction of the Earth's magnetic field at London, 1570-1975', Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A, vol 299, 1981. In February 1985 Lady Jeffreys persuaded her husband to withdraw the paper from Notes & Records. Her explanatory note dated 5 October 1989 is at D.290.
