Scope and content
Page 1 unfortunately was lost, but not before the captions were recorded. The original page contained:
A. A panorama view of Traill Island from 2600’ above Antarctic Haven. The width of the view is some 60 miles at a range of 25 miles. In the foreground is Davy Sound with Cape Simpson on the left (east) and the open sea beyond. On the right (north-west) are the Kongeborgen (5200’). 6am Aug 12th.
B. Looking inland (N.W.) from 2620’ above Antarctic haven, showing the Werner Mts (?) or possibly a new high mountain range.
C. “Heimland” in Antarctic haven from about 600’ up the S.E. side. Permian (?) cliffs behind. The ship is aground. The shallow water line being shown by the ice floes also grounded.
MMLP's son has been able to supply replacement prints for photographs B and C.
