Biographical history
Bezzant was educated privately and at Pembroke College, Oxford. He graduated in Modern History in 1921, and took a First Class in Theology in 1923. From 1925 to 1933 Bezzant was Vice-Principal of Ripon Hall, Oxford, while also serving as Chaplain and Lecturer of Exeter College, and Tutor in Theology at Pembroke College. In 1933 he moved to Liverpool as Canon Residentiary and Chancellor of Liverpool Cathedral, holding both posts until 1952. Bezzant was Select Preacher at both Cambridge and Oxford, served as an Examining Chaplain to various Bishops, and as an Examiner in Theology at London and Oxford. He spent several periods of residence in the United States as a lecturer. During the War, Bezzant served as Chaplain in the R.N.V.R. In 1952 he was elected to a Fellowship at St John's College, Cambridge, and became Dean. From 1953 to 1964 he served as University Lecturer in Divinity. He published various theological monographs and articles and died in 1967.
