Donated by Robin Bunce, July 2022 (items 1–7) and August 2024 (items 8–9), from the papers of his father, the camera operator Roger Bunce.

The donor has provided the following biographical note.

'Roger Bunce was a television cameraman who was employed by the BBC from 1965 until 2010. He was well known within the BBC for his special effects camera work. He specialised in Colour Separation Overlay, also known as Blue Screen or Chroma Key, and wrote Keep it in Perspective, the BBC manual on the technique. Latterly, he pioneered virtual reality filming with BBC virtual studios. Primarily, Bunce was based at BBC Television Centre. In addition to working on The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, he worked on other science-fiction shows including Doctor Who, Blake’s 7 and Star Cops. A fan of Hitchhiker's and Douglas Adams, Bunce archived material from the show. This came to light after his death in 2021, and was donated to St John's College by his wife and children.'
