Note
The withdrawal of £150 is recorded on 2 July 1642 in the College balance book (SJAR/4/2/3/2) fol. 363v (reversed at foot of the page). See also the register of items removed from the College treasury (SJAR/14/2/2).
Note
Council Minute CM1441/9 also makes mention of the withdrawal. The minute refers to a gift by Clare College (1934) in the CM "the senior bursar reported that Clare College had forwarded to SJC an extract copy of the College Balance Book of 1642 relating to the contribution of money and plate to Charles I. this had been sent at the time to the Vice-Chancellor. "
