Note
The first meeting of the St. John's Theological Society was held in October 1884. Meetings were initially held once a week and its members gathered for the purpose of reading and discussing papers written on a particular theme. Today, the Theological Society continues to hold meetings, talks and socials primarily for students reading the Theological Tripos (though it attracts members from across a range of disciplinary fields, including literature, history and philosophy).
