Scope and content

Includes manuscript minutes of the meetings of the Ladies' Committee of the St John's Walworth Mission. Minutes taken between 1886 and 1912 are irregular and vary in detail, but include names of individuals present and in some cases, a brief summary of issues discussed, such as activities provided for women and girls by the Mission at Walworth and donations to be made to members of the parish.

The book does not include minutes for the period of 1915-1934, but a summary is provided, outlining the work of the Committee during this period, as well as other contributions made throughout the 1930s, including blankets, towels, furnishings, Christmas teas, activities/minding for small children, etc. The minutes resume in November 1934, by which time the Master's wife, Mrs Benians, had become President of the Committee.

The notebook also includes a rough account summary of expenditures and subscriptions for the Ladies Society between 1909 and 1940.
