Archivist's note
SJAC/3/1/2/4 is the final, the second of 2 folio volumes, of the Examination Books. It was once thought the series was discontinued in 1867 because of increasing diversity of subjects, but the existence of a much longer and later series in Trinity College, Cambridge has led to the conclusion that the later books at St John's may have gone astray [Malcolm G Underwood, 1 July 2005]
