Ceramic dinner plate owned by the College bearing the same central design of a zig-zag wall and pagoda as an earlier plate owned by the College cook, James Prior. The border decoration and colour also come from Prior's plate. Plate is chipped around the edges. It bears the SJC stamp and the manufacturer's mark on the reverse.

Note
The plate bears the stamp ‘Mortlocks, Oxford St’ on the reverse. The Mortlock China Company was founded in Oxford St, London in 1746. The company finally ceased business in 1930. (see http://www.meldrethhistory.org.uk/page_id__128.aspx)
Note
James Prior was the Fellows’ Cook from 1825-1845. He figures on the parish map of St Giles from 1831 with some land and a homestead adjacent to Trinity Fellows’ Garden near Bin Brook.
