Note
The Beaufort Society, named after the founder of St. John's College, Lady Margaret Beaufort (1443-1509), was formed “for the purpose of theological discussion and religious fellowship”. It should not be confused with the modern Beaufort Society, a society for donors who have promised a gift to St. John's College in their will.
