The only likely Stafford of the period is George, of Pembroke hall. He was MA. in 1517, but Metcalfe was not Master of SJC until 1518; despite the title `Sir' Stafford, however, according to research done by MG Underwood (Archivist 1974-2012) this is the best probability. Nicholas Glinton, also mentioned, was fellow of SJC 1516 and rector of Rushden 1520: in the letter he is still unbeneficed.
