History

Irish Officer of Arms; Athlone Pursuivant of Arms in Ordinary; Athlone Herald to the Jacobite court [appointed 1690]. Tyrry followed James II into exile in France after the Glorious Revolution of 1688. However, he remained, by necessity, in communication with heralds in Scotland and England in order to verify records and documents, and was responsible for granting arms to the scattered population of Ireland.
