The Mallarmé-Brennan collection

The collection comprises printed works by and about Mallarmé. Some of the volumes contain inscriptions by Mallarmé and Brennan. One volume contains letters to Brennan from Mallarmé, S.C. Leconte, A.W. Verrall and G.C. Toussaint. The collection also includes a volume of Mallarmé's verses written out by Brennan.

In French. Writes from on board ship. Will be in Sydney in about three days and hopes to see Brennan. Mallarmé speaks highly of him. Has Brennan received his 'Bouclier d'Ares'? Asks Brennan to check if Franck Leverrier has received his 'L'Esprit qui passe'.

In French. Thanks Brennan for sending poems [XVIII Poems]. Regrets that he neither speaks nor reads English so cannot give opinion on his verses. Apologises for delay in writing. Has spent last three years in Melanesia then in Paris. Has spoken of Brennan to Mallarmé. Hopes to see Brennan when he goes to Sydney at end of year.
