ALS from Palmerston, 94 Piccadilly, to W.E. Gladstone

Palmerston expresses an interest in supporting the appointment of an assistant, probably to the Professor of Practical Astronomy at Glasgow University. On the back of the letter is written (in Gladstone's hand ?) 'Let a precis of the informn. in this case be prepared for me to send to Ld P. Jul 2'.

With a letter of donation from G.U. Yule to H.P.W. Gatty, 18 Nov. 1937, and a letter to Yule from A.J.D. Winnifrith re the contents of Palmerston's letter, 17 Nov. 1937.
