FH's chapter on the moon is fine. Asks that he references Gold throughout, so that Gold is not later accused of plagiarism. Gold's Mercury paper was rejected, and he sends copies of the comments (49/3/2). Will shortly send FH a paper on the subject of hydrocarbons. With an added autograph manuscript note from Gold mentioning methane and carbon dioxide.

Does not think that methane is made by bacteria beneath the earth's surface, but that the most likely source is the 'thermal dissociation of primordial hydrocarbons'. Oil will be deposited where the pressure drops in the methane stream.
