Confirms to Crook that the book is now on sale at the National army Museum in Chelsea. Refers to an essay on Mountbatten in 'Eminent Churchillians' by Andrew Roberts. Close suggests the time is ripe for claiming that when Attlee replaced Wavell with Mountbatten it was a tragic blunder.

Informs Crook of the change, on medical grounds, to ground floor accommodation, which he now shares with the entire family. His new book 'Attlee, Wavell, Mountbatten and the Transfer of Power' should be published in a few weeks.

Note informing Crook of a reference to his work on Wavell in the old boys section of the school magazine 'The Gower', which has led to indirect contact, via a Colonel Scott Lowe, with one of Wavell's daughters, Lady Felicity Longmore. Close asks Crook to send a copy of the typescript to Lowe with a view to getting the interest of the Longmores.

Tells Crook that he has rewritten one of the chapters of the Wavell book and will continue to rewrite the remainder of the manuscript over the next two to three months. He mentions that he now finds walking more difficult.
