Studied at Magdalen College, Oxford, and graduated with a BA in Human Sciences (1988). Subsequently obtained an MSc in Medical Demography from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (1989). After working for several years as an Information/Press Officer for the marriage and partnership research organisation, ONE plus ONE, Dormor returned to Oxford, obtaining a BA in Theology (1994). Became Chaplain of St. John's College, Cambridge, in 1998. Currently Fellow and Chapel Dean of St. John's, a position he has held since 2002.
