We haven't seen each other in years, yet I have always treasured the time we spent together. Knowing he was just up the road in Santa Barbara (I live in Los Angeles) and that we could have had a reunion made his shocking departure all the more painful. The world lost his brilliance. I lost a piece of my life....We must never shed our friends as they are the threads that are woven together to give a life meaning. I am so sorry, dear friend, that we were not together more often'.
