Richard Potman (court rolls for Headcorn): Richard Clayton

Richard Potman [Pitman}, steward of SJC's courts in Kent, enclosing court rolls of Headcorn and requesting arrears of his fees.
The original letter is addressed to Owen Gwyn, Bursar, and in the body of the letter refers to its bearer, Clayton. However, Gwyn's name has been crossed off the c 20th-century typescript list and it has been catalogued under Clayton (the reasons for this are not known)

Petition: Sir Robert Southwell

Petition (undated), Sir Robert Southwell to the executors of Lady Margaret Beaufort, asking compensation for losing a wardship wrongly adjudged to be of a fee held of the Duchy of Lancaster; Southwell had lost it through letters being addressed by the King [Henry VII] to Lady Margaret.

Map, with reference, of Southernden Farm occupied by James Weeks, in the parish of Boughton Malherbe and Headcorn Kent. The farm was part of the estate of Francis Robins. Robins bequeathed the land to the College.
The grid scale is 10 perches to 1 inch over the map. The border is decorated and the cartouche has cornucopiae and birds with the reference in scroll work.

Also includes copy wills of Christopher Fullager, Mary White, Hester Barrett, and Rebecca Kneller.
